I was inspired to create this quilt both by the beautiful ombre fabric by RJR Fabrics Shiny Objects - "Nocturne" I purchased with no plans this spring.

For the pattern, I was inspired by this mug that my kids bought for me for Spring Break while we were in Canada.

Once I had the fabric and the idea, I went searching for ideas in the Pinterest world. I was surprised to find that there aren't very many moroccan tile patterns.

Latifa Saafir came to the Austin Modern Quilt guild last year and I wondered if I could use her Glam Clam pattern to make one of my own.

Success! I was able to cut the fabric into parts of the Glam Clam which were pieced to make the moroccan tile pattern.

Once it was pieced I wanted more definition of the lines between the "tiles", so I hand appliqued the gold fabric on the top using a bias cut.

Finally, I quilted it using my home machine in what turned out to be a onion pattern.
